There are currently two vacancies for Town officials.
The Planning Board has one seat open as board member Mary Joslyn has reached the end of her term and has left the board to pursue other interests. This is an appointed position with a term of seven years.
The Town Board also has one seat open as Councilman Kyle Collinsworth has left the board to take his new position as Town Justice for the Town of Romulus. This position will be filled by appointment to complete the remainder of the year (until December 31, 2020). This is normally an elected position with a term of four years and if you would like to continue in the position at the end of the appointment you would need to run for the office in the 2020 election.
You must be a resident of the Town of Romulus to serve in either of these positions. Anyone wishing to apply for either of these positions should submit a letter of interest to the Romulus Town Clerk at your earliest convenience.
There are several changes as the result of the recent election and other events (and more to come).
- David Hayes has been elected Town Supervisor replacing David Kaiser.
- Planning Board member Mary Joslyn has decided to leave the Planning Board at the end of her term.
- Newly elected Councilman Stacey Bennett will be filling the seat on the Town Board vacated by David Hayes.
- Councilman Kyle Collinsworth is leaving his position on the Town Board to take up his duties as the newly elected Town Justice for the Town of Romulus.
- Angela Testa will be joining us as a bookkeeper. This will allow us to better serve the residents and maintain proper segregation of duties to ensure compliance with audit requirements.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Dave Kaiser, Mary Joslyn, and Kyle Collinsworth for their valuable service to the Town. We wish them well in their future endeavors.
The Town of Romulus Main Office will be closed Wednesday, January 1, 2020 in observance of the New Year’s Day holiday. Normal office hours will resume on Thursday, January 2, 2020.
Please have a safe, happy, and healthy New Year!
We have had reports of a Fisher in the area. The Fisher is a small mustelid (a member of the weasel family) about the size of a large cat and has been seen in the area before. They are relatively rare animals and prefer to avoid humans but are seen from time-to-time near wooded areas.
Included below is a link to the Wikipedia entry for Fishers. They represent another example of the wonderfully diverse biological area in which we are fortunate enough to reside. If you happen to see a Fisher and are lucky enough to get a picture, please feel free to send it to us and we’ll post it on-line.
The Town of Romulus Main Office will be closed Wednesday, November 27, 2019 through Friday, November 29, 2019 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. Normal office hours will resume on Monday, December 2, 2019.
Please have a safe, happy, and healthy Thanksgiving!
